What it is like to carry
This is the most ordinary bag in the range, and that is the point. It is the one you pick up without thinking on a Tuesday morning, because everything the day needs goes into it and the zip closes over the top.
Suede reads differently from smooth leather: matte, slightly textured, warmer in the hand. The handles are smooth leather, which is the part that takes the weight and the part that will darken first where you hold it. The smaller size sits close and stays neat; the larger one takes a folder flat rather than curled.
Who it is for
For someone who carries documents as well as belongings, and has been choosing between a bag that fits an A4 file and a bag they would actually want to own. Someone who has bought the large tote before, found it was one open cave with a magnetic clasp, and would rather have pockets and a zip.
Care
This bag is suede, so it is looked after differently from smooth leather. Brush gently with a soft suede brush to lift the nap. Keep it away from water where you can; if it does get wet, let it dry naturally, away from direct heat, then brush it again. A suede protector spray helps with marks. Do not use leather conditioner, oils or solvents on the suede — they flatten and darken the surface permanently. The smooth leather handles can be wiped with a dry, soft cloth.

Which size should I choose?

Does suede mark easily?
More easily than smooth leather, yes — that is the nature of the surface, and it is worth knowing before you order. Most marks lift with a soft brush, and the rest settle into the texture with wear. If you want something that shrugs off rain, the Commuter Tote or the Satchel are smooth leather.
Will a laptop fit?
There is no padded laptop sleeve in this bag, and we would rather say so. The larger size measures 36 × 14 × 25 cm — measure your device against that before ordering if you plan to carry one.
Will the colour match the photographs?
Close, but not exactly. Screens vary, and suede reads differently depending on light and the direction of the nap, so brown and coffee can look warmer or darker in person.
