The material is named on every product page, and the dimensions are listed so you can measure before you buy. Colour varies slightly between screens, and leather takes dye unevenly by nature, so expect a small difference from the photographs. What it is like to use
You drop it into the bag once and stop thinking about it. The pockets hold their shape against the felt, so a phone stays upright instead of sliding flat to the bottom, and keys stop finding their way underneath everything else.
When you change bags, you lift the whole thing out and put it in the other one. Nothing is repacked, and nothing is left behind in the bag you are not carrying today.
Who it is for
For anyone who owns a leather bag with a considered outside and an empty inside — including our own Commuter Tote, whose interior is deliberately unlined. Also for people who switch between two or three bags and are tired of moving items one at a time.
Care
Spot-clean with a damp cloth and a little mild soap, then let it air-dry flat. Do not machine wash or tumble dry — felt shrinks and loses its structure with heat. Store it flat or inside a bag so the pockets keep their shape.
Frequently asked questions
Is this leather?
No — this one is felt, and we would rather say so plainly. It is also the right material for the job: an insert made of leather would be heavy and would rub against the bag it sits in. Every leather item on this site is described as leather on its own page.
Which size should I choose?
Measure the base of the bag you want to use it in and pick the size that sits inside with a little room to spare. Mini suits a small shoulder bag; Large is intended for a full-size tote.
Will it fit the Commuter Tote?
The Commuter Tote measures approximately 29 × 14 × 33 cm at the opening, so Medium or Large is the closest fit. If you are ordering both together, email support@maisonharlowe.com and we will check the pairing before we dispatch.
Will it damage my bag?
No. Felt is softer than the leather around it, which is exactly why we use it rather than a stiffer material.
Will the colour match the photographs?
Close, but not exactly — screens vary, and felt reads slightly differently in daylight than under indoor light.
What if it is not right for me?
